What wandur.net records when you visit, and what it does not.

Visits

Each page served adds one to a daily count for that page. Alongside it the site keeps, per day: the browser, system and device type read from the browser's user agent (as words such as "Chrome", "macOS", "desktop", never the full header), the name of the site that linked here (not the full address), the first language your browser asks for, and the country your connection comes from.

The country is looked up from your IP address while the page is served, and the address is then thrown away. It is never stored or logged by these counts. The lookup uses IP Geolocation by DB-IP, licensed under CC BY 4.0.

A browser that accepts cookies gets a random visitor cookie, so a return visit is not counted as someone new. Only a one-way hash of it is stored. Daily counts are kept for 90 days.

A second after a page is on screen, it sends the site a small first-party "seen" signal, so the site can tell people from automated traffic. The signal carries only that same visitor cookie, nothing else.

The client

The Wandur Mud Client sends an anonymous install id: a random value it makes on first launch, so the site can count how many installs are in use and which versions they run. The site stores only a keyed hash of it, which cannot be turned back into the id. The client has a setting to stop sending it.

Accounts

If you make an account, the site keeps your email address, the display name you choose, when the account was made and when you last signed in, and how many pages you opened each day while signed in. Your email is never shown publicly.
